"ChatGPT for business" and "ChatGPT Business" are among the AI searches that have grown most in Spain this year. It makes sense: much of the workforce already uses ChatGPT on their own, on personal plans, and management wants to bring order to it. OpenAI sells two plans for organizations. This guide explains what each includes, with official data as of October 6, 2026, what it costs for a 100-person company and which questions to ask before signing.
Business and Enterprise in one table

What ChatGPT Business includes
Business is the self-serve plan: you sign up by card in minutes. It gives each person the full ChatGPT, with OpenAI's latest models, the Work mode that acts on apps and files, Codex for coding, shared projects, deep research and workspace agents. Admins centralize billing, see usage and can set spend limits.
There are two seat types that can be combined. The standard seat is for everyday use. The premium seat, five times the price, gives five times the usage and removes the five-hour limit; it makes sense for whoever works with ChatGPT all day, not for the whole workforce.
Most important for a company: OpenAI doesn't train its models on Business data, and the platform holds SOC 2 Type 2 and ISO 27001 certifications, among others.
What Enterprise adds
Enterprise is for organizations that need more control or exceed 200 users, since Business has had that cap since August 2026. What really changes for a Spanish company is three things. First, SCIM: user provisioning and deprovisioning sync with the company directory, which in Business is done by hand. Second, European data residency, which OpenAI only offers to new Enterprise and Edu customers. Third, audit logs and configurable data retention, which the security team usually requires.
The price isn't public. It's negotiated with sales, and OpenAI has announced its first office in Spain, in Madrid.
What it costs for a 100-person company
With standard seats billed annually, ChatGPT Business costs €21 × 100 users × 12 months = €25,200 a year. Billed monthly it would be €31,200. If ten of those people need a premium seat, the annual total rises to €35,280. Above 200 users you have to move to Enterprise. What ChatGPT for business doesn't solve
A single provider
ChatGPT is OpenAI. If the best model for a task becomes another provider's, and over the last three years that has happened more than once, the company has no alternative inside the tool. We explain it with data in why models rotate.
What you build lives on the platform
The agents, projects and instructions the workforce creates live inside ChatGPT and follow its changes. A recent example: OpenAI is replacing custom GPTs with plugins across all ChatGPT plans, with retirement planned for December 11, 2026. It isn't a quality problem; it's a question of who decides about what your company has built.
The company's context
ChatGPT connects to Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Slack or GitHub, but answer quality depends on which sources are connected, with what permissions and who maintains them. Before rolling out, decide which repositories each team should see and check that source permissions are respected.
How to roll out ChatGPT in a company
- Measure the starting point. How many people already use AI, with which tool, on which plan and who pays for it. There's almost always more use than management thinks, some of it on personal plans.
- Pick the plan by size and requirements. Up to 200 people and no need for European residency, Business; otherwise, Enterprise.
- Set up identity and connections. Single sign-on, verified domain and only the sources each team needs.
- Write a usage policy. Which data can go in and which can't, and how outputs are reviewed before use. The EU AI Act already requires staff AI literacy; we summarize it in the AI Act and GDPR in 2026.
- Start with one use case per department and measure after three months against the starting point.
Alternatives to ChatGPT for business
Claude Team, from Anthropic: €18 per user per month billed annually, 2 to 150 people; we analyze it in Claude for business. Microsoft 365 Copilot: makes sense if the whole company works in Microsoft; we compare it in ChatGPT or Copilot. Gemini, if the company uses Google Workspace, because it already comes included in its plans. And multi-model platforms such as Azimut, which give access to OpenAI's models together with Anthropic's, Google's and Mistral's, with the company's agents and knowledge shared and spend visible by team. Azimut costs more per seat, €29 billed annually, because it includes several providers and the connection to company systems; if you only need OpenAI's models, ChatGPT Business is cheaper.
