"We already use ChatGPT" is the most common sentence in a first conversation with a Spanish company. It's almost always true, and it almost always means something different from what it sounds like: several people with separate licenses, each with their own instructions, none of it shared or governed. This page compares buying ChatGPT for the company with using Azimut, which works with OpenAI's models among others. It isn't "one or the other": it's deciding where your company's work layer lives.
First things first: Azimut uses OpenAI's models
Worth making clear before comparing anything. OpenAI is one of the four providers in Azimut's catalog, alongside Anthropic, Google and Mistral. When a team chooses an OpenAI model in Azimut, they get that model, under an enterprise contract, without your data being used for training. The difference isn't in the model: it's in everything around it.
What ChatGPT offers for businesses
OpenAI sells two plans for organizations. ChatGPT Business, for teams of 2 to 200 people, with a shared workspace, admin controls and a commitment not to train on company data. And ChatGPT Enterprise, custom-priced, for larger organizations, with more controls, identity integration and support. Both give access to OpenAI's models, to building custom GPTs and to connectors with some work tools.
It's a good purchase when what you want is exactly that: OpenAI's models, with enterprise guarantees, so each person works better. And when the organization is comfortable depending on a single provider.
Where the difference is
One provider versus four
ChatGPT is OpenAI. If tomorrow the best model for analyzing contracts belongs to another provider, or a model's price changes, the company has no alternative inside the same tool. In Azimut, each team chooses the model per task and switching it is configuration. Leadership in models has changed hands twice in three years; it isn't a hypothesis, it's recent industry history, and we explain it in why models rotate.
Agents and knowledge belong to the company
A custom GPT belongs to whoever created it and lives inside ChatGPT. An Azimut agent is published company-wide, with permissions, and keeps working even if the model it was built with changes, or the person who built it leaves. That's the difference between a company that has "people who use AI" and a company that has its own capability.
The company's context, connected
The quality of an answer depends on what the model knows about your company. Azimut is built to connect internal repositories and work systems, inheriting permissions from the source, so every person and every agent answers with the context that belongs to them. A general assistant answers general questions well; a company's work is almost all specific.
Spend visibility
With flat licenses, cost is fixed and usage is invisible. Azimut assigns credits per seat and shows usage by user, team, model and tool. That's useful for two things: knowing which teams have actually adopted AI, and deciding with data who needs more capacity.
Pricing, dated

When ChatGPT Business makes sense. Small teams, mostly individual work, no need to connect internal systems, and no problem depending on OpenAI. It's cheaper per user and gets set up in minutes.
When Azimut makes sense. Companies of 100 to 1,000 employees that want AI to belong to the whole organization: shared agents with permissions, the company's context connected, model choice per task and spend control. With OpenAI's models included, and an alternative if they stop being the best for a task.
How to go from "we already use ChatGPT" to a company layer
What already works doesn't get thrown away. The instructions your best users have refined over months are exactly what's worth turning into shared agents. A reasonable rollout starts by measuring how many people use AI today, with which tool, and how much the company spends on it even if it's scattered; it continues by connecting repositories and identity; and it ends with one starter agent per department, built with the people who already knew how to use ChatGPT. We cover this in detail in the AI by department pages.
Frequently asked questions
Do I lose anything from ChatGPT by moving to Azimut?
OpenAI's models remain available. What changes is the environment: instead of one assistant per person, a shared work layer with company agents, connected context and model choice.
Can I keep using ChatGPT for some things?
Yes. Some companies keep individual licenses for personal use and concentrate work that touches company data and processes in Azimut. What matters is that whatever gets built with company data is governed.
Does my data train models?
No. Azimut accesses OpenAI, Anthropic, Google and Mistral under enterprise contracts that prohibit using your data for training. What your team writes is used to answer them, and nothing else.
